Some people say that Christians should not be in business. Somehow they think being is business is against Biblical teachings. This is nonsense. All throughout the Bible people are working and running small businesses. In fact, up until the industrial revolution it was common for almost all people to operate or work in a small business. We read all through the Bible about businesses like baking, wine making, and olive grove tending. Man is intended to work and God wants us to be successful and live a comfortable life.
As Christians we are charged with honesty and integrity. Interestingly enough, this is exactly what the market place is crying out for in these turbulent times. People who a run a business with the idea of giving honest value for a product or service are quickly sought out by the public. There has been so much greed and stealing for the last several years that people are craving honest interaction with business owners.
Business should be a mission. The goal should be to solve your customers’ problems. When you solve their problems they are given value. In trade for that value the customer gives you something else of value, money. That is how a business works. Now if you want to give products or services away for free then that is your choice and I wish you success. You will have a charity but you will not have a business. If it is a business you want, where you solve a customer’s problem in exchange for payment, then I can help you.
